πŸ“•My Review

On a dark night in rural England, Thomas Spell's life is changed forever. He and French girlfriend Celeste are brutally attacked. Thomas escapes with his life but Celeste is killed. Upon returning home to Chicago, Thomas discovers he's not the person he was - there's something sinister lurking within; something forbidding and threatening... and Thomas is losing control.

I have a confession to make - this was the first time a werewolf had landed upon my reading shelf and I was totally unprepared. My only other experience was many years ago with An American Werewolf In London on TV. Heck, I wasn't even sure if this was my type of book! Well, let me blow that right out of the water - this was a great read! Yes, it had some gruesome imagery but it wasn't the over-the-top gorefest one might expect. It was well-written with a degree of reserve and humour, which I liked. The reader was given a good feel for the conflict within Thomas as he sought to find a cure with med student Penelope and pharmacology wizard Eric.

The ending was satisfying, yet with enough of an opening for development into a series. Overall, an enjoyable read without being too complex.

* My thanks to author Andy Fitz for providing me with a copy of this book.

πŸ“—The Blurb

A midnight ritual by a secret society in the English Countryside nearly costs Thomas Spell his life. He returns home to Chicago to find that he carries within himself something unspeakable - a condition for which he believes there is no cure, until he meets Penelope, a beautiful and brilliant pre-med student determined to heal him. But The Brotherhood searches for him still, convinced that he holds the key to an unimaginable power. As his life begins to spiral out of control, Thomas is forced to confront his own past, as well as the dark forces closing in on him and everything he holds dear.
